The good news is that you can easily DIY to install a new <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.us.kohler.com\/us\/browse\/bathroom-showering-tub-shower-faucets\/_\/N-2dul\"><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">showerhead<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">. According to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.homedepot.com\/c\/ah\/how-to-fix-a-leaky-shower-faucet\/9ba683603be9fa5395fab9016cbb4f8c\"><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Home Depot<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">, you can complete this process in about two hours. Follow these four steps: <\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">First, you must shut off the water supply for your showerhead. This might include shutting off your water supply for your entire home. Then, remove the following items in this order: <\/span>\n<ul>\n<li>Handle Cap<\/li>\n<li>Handle<\/li>\n<li>Faceplate<\/li>\n<li>Metal Sleeve<\/li>\n<li>Locking Clip<\/li>\n<li>Cartridge<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Next, you need to replace the cartridge you just removed.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Afterward, replace the other parts you removed, such as the faceplate and locking clip. You want to test your showerhead after this step.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Remove the metal stem in the showerhead. If you notice any damage in the metal stem, then you need to replace it. You most likely have a clog in your drain. Depending on the severity, this is an expensive repair if you have to call a plumber.<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Luckily, there are a few <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thespruce.com\/how-to-unclog-a-drain-2718779\"><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">DIY fixes<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\"> you can try. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Normally, there are a few contributors to a clogged drain. Thus, you\u2019ll need to try a few of these strategies to fix the problem. <\/span><strong>Note: Please wear rubber gloves when trying any of these methods.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>Drain Treatment<\/h3>\n<p>Use a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.us.kohler.com\/us\/drain-treatment\/productDetail\/cleaners-cleaners\/1846787.htm?skuId=1846764&amp;brandId=1848816\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">drain treatment<\/a> with a formula that is safe for use on bath drains, sink drains, toilets and urinals.<\/p>\n<p>For a blocked drain, remove as much standing water as possible. Pour the entire contents of the package in the drain. Allow the treatment to work overnight if possible, then flush with hot water.<\/p>\n<p>For a slow drain, add 4 ounces of product for each inch of diameter of drain pipe. Add the treatment at the lowest water-use period for best results. Continue daily until your system flows freely. Then add every other week as a preventative maintenance measure.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Boiling Water<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">If you have <\/span><b>metal<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\"> pipes, then you can pour small amounts of boiling water to try to remove the clog. You will notice fizzing; that\u2019s expected. Leave the solution in for at least one hour. After the hour passes, pour hot water into the drain to clean out any remaining solution. <\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Plunger<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">If all else fails, try a plunger. Remove the cover from the drain and place the rubber cup over the drain. Next, run water in your shower until the water covers the top of the rubber cup. Afterward, use the plunger to try and remove the clog. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Running Toilets<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Running toilets can cause water damage, so take them seriously. There are normally two common causes: a dysfunctional toilet flapper or broken fill valve. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?time_continue=429&amp;v=UV-peiKW9gM&amp;feature=emb_title\"><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Roger Wakefield<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">, a plumber for thirty years, outlines the DIY process for fixing a running toilet. <\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Turn off the water supply. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Remove the lid from the toilet. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Check the flapper.
